WIPO to organize traditional knowledge meet in India

WIPO and the UN agency responsible for promoting and protecting intellectual property rights worldwide, in cooperation with the Indian government will be organizing a three-day meet on traditional knowledge, including ayurvedic medicine and unani, in March 2011.

The meeting scheduled to be held in New Delhi from March 22 to 24, would help in creating awareness about intellectual property rights and patents, essential for protecting traditional knowledge. Utilisation of Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL) as a model for the protection of traditional knowledge would be the focal point in this meet organised by WIPO and CSIR (Council of Scientific & Industrial Research).
