India has rejected Abbott's patent application for lopinavir/ritonavir

Indian patent office has rejected the patent application of Abbott for its lifesaving HIV drug combo of lopinavir/ritonavir.
Abbott has already granted patent in many countries throughout the world for this combination but india has rejected this application based on the combination of existing drug is not an invention and considering it as a patent evergreening strategy only.
Such type of patent will hinder the entry of generic players in the market and which will lead to only suffering of patients.
